Today I achieved a lifelong dream... I was hired to work at my dream company. Thank you to everyone who has ever appreciated or even looked at my drawings. It really helps me find the meaning in what I do, and encourages me to improve myself every step of the way.

holy jesus congrats!!!! that's so awesome <3

your art is amazing, btw. very inspired and dynamic stuff. --this I suppose is something of an aside, but do you sketch out concepts before inking? your art has such flow that it doesn't appear as though you do. /dumb ol' artisty curiosity

lulz, hope you respond to this. I really am curious.

when planning an entire composition, I try to thumbnail a concept before jumping in (or, rather, I "should" do this-- I skip that step more often than I care to admit). but for doodles like this, with a character that floats on a transparent BG, I make an extremely basic sketch in cyan (i have changed the line color so you can see it better): [link] For me, the sketch exists as a general guideline for the proportions I want and where things generally go. It's like a framework that keeps me reigned in a little bit. Over top of the sketch, I'm basically straight-inking almost like drawing an entirely new picture on top of the basic shapes. With this method, I think my final lines retain the liveliness of a sketch. If I were to draw the exact picture in the sketch as many other artists do, inking would feel like redrawing the same picture. Many great artists can pull off that method, but when I do it, my inks look static and uninspired. Whatever works for you is ultimately what you should do, but I really encourage experimenting until you discover your method! I hope that answers your question, but feel free to ask for any clarification!
And thank you so much for your well wishing!!
